Understanding the Decline in the Raji Tribe’s Population

This paper investigates the multifaceted and intricate factors that are significantly contributing to the decline in the population of the Raji tribe, a marginalised community residing near the geographically distinct region of Jauljibi, which is situated within the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India. Utilising a mixed-methods research approach, quantitative data were collected through the deployment of structured schedules designed to elicit specific demographic information, while qualitative insights were garnered from semi-structured interviews conducted with people, thereby enriching the data set with contextual narratives. The paper ultimately concludes by offering a series of well-founded recommendations aimed at fostering integrated policy interventions that encompass a holistic approach to healthcare improvement, the establishment of sustainable livelihoods, the preservation of cultural heritage and the effective management of environmental resources, all of which are deemed essential for reversing the troubling trend of population decline among the Raji tribe.
