This ethnographic study explores the socio-cultural dynamics of Barthal Tea Estate, a rural community in Assam, India. Through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions, this research provides an in-depth understanding of the community's cultural practices, social structure, livelihood strategies, and economic conditions. The study highlights the significance of religious practices, festivals, and rituals in shaping social relationships and cultural identity. The findings reveal a unique blend of traditional and modern practices, influenced by the community's complex history, linguistic diversity, and self-identification as "Adivasi." This research contributes to the existing literature on tea garden communities, emphasizing the importance of cultural preservation and sustainable livelihoods.
