Healthy Life Style for Older Adults over Age of 40

Abstract
People worldwide are living longer. Today most people can expect to live into their sixties and beyond. Every country in the world is experiencing growth in both the size and the proportion of older persons in the population. Aging Explained by who Aging is biological level, Aging results from the impact of the accumulation of a wide variety of molecular and cellular damage over time. This leads to a gradual decrease in physical and mental capacity a growing risk of disease and ultimately death. Physical activity means exercise, sports, and physical activities performed as part of daily living, occupation, leisure, or active transportation. Physical function is the capacity of an individual to perform the physical activities of daily living. Physical function reflects motor function and control, physical fitness, and habitual physical activity. Lifestyle is a way of life or style of leaving that reflects the attitudes and values of a person or group. An unhealthy lifestyle means more illness and more expense to treat those illnesses. Poor health also means a bigger burden on an already challenged health care system. Poor health also means more time loss at work, less quality recreational time and even shorter life span. People have a tendency to underestimate the risks associated with their won health impairing habits while viewing the risk associated with others. Benefits of physical activity some benefits of physical activity on brain immediately happen right after a session of moderate to vigorous physical activity. Benefits include improved thinking or cognition for children 6 to 13 years of age and reduced short-term feelings of anxiety for adults. Regular physical activity can help keep your thinking, learning, and judgment skills sharp as you age. It can also reduce your risk of depression and anxiety and help you sleep better. Among older adults, physical activity also reduces the risk of falling and injuries from falls. Physical activity programs that include more than one type of physical activity are most successful at reducing falls and fall related injuries. Different types of physical activity include aerobic, muscle strengthening, and balance physical activities. Also, weight bearing activities such as running, brisk walking, jumping jacks and strength training produce a force on the bones. These activities that can help promote bone growth and bone strength and reduce the risk of fall-related injuries and fractures. The goals for most exercises and fitness routines aimed at men over 40 are largely similar to those aimed at younger demographics. Specifically, most of these exercises seek to do one (or more) of the following: 1) build or retain muscle mass, 2) burn calories to help maintain or lose weight, 3) maintain or improve strength, and 4) improve energy, cardiac output, and stamina. All of these goals are important for fitness at any age. What to do? Do shorter workouts more frequently, Avoid grinding reps, Use variations of the patient lifter’s method Skip the barbells every now and then Steady state cardio is an awesome recovery tool. Good nutrition, daily exercise and adequate sleep are the foundations of healthy living. A healthy lifestyle keeps you fit, energetic and at reduced risk for disease. According to WHO, Healthy living is a way of living that helps you enjoy more aspects of your life.
